Carla Gericke

President Emeritus/Chairman, Free State Project

Author, activist, attorney, Carla Gericke, is president emeritus and chairman of the Free State Project, the most successful libertarian movement in the world. Carla has significantly contributed to the expansion of liberty in New Hampshire, including winning a landmark 2014 First Circuit lawsuit affirming the First Amendment right to film police encounters and eliminating qualified immunity in such instances.

Carla has run for NH State Senate three times, receiving 45% in 2020, and is currently running as a Republican nominee for the NH State House. Carla serves on the boards of Right-to-Know NH, an open government group, and the Foundation for NH Independence, a 501c3 nonprofit advocating for peaceful independence from the federal government.

Carla hosts three weekly shows, Manch Talk, Free State Live!, The Carla Gericke Show, and, sometimes, when the mood strikes, a casual Keto cooking show, Freedomnomnom! on her YouTube channel, CarlaGerickeTV

Carla frequently appears on libertarian podcasts, and has been featured on WMUR, CNN, Fox, BBC, and in GQ, The Economist, Christian Science Monitor, and more. Her first book, The Ecstatic Pessimist: Stories of Hope (Mostly) is now available. Watch this C-SPAN Book TV interview to learn more about Carla’s early years in South Africa, how she won a green card and became a high-tech Silicon Valley lawyer, and more about her activism and leadership in the Free State.
